This cup makes coffee taste especially delicious.
Coarse soil containing sand grains.
The glaze is a white that is close to off-white.
Tiny black particles are scattered all over.
Around the waist,
A single unglazed band.
Only in that area are fine vertical grooves carved,
The natural color of the soil is clearly visible.
Because your fingers can get in the way,
It's easy to hold even when filled with hot drinks.
This obi (sash) is both decorative and functional.
The underside of the base is left unglazed.
The "SP-M" engraving and a small mark.
Signe Persson-Melin (1925–2022)
He was someone who worked in both workshops and factories.
Born in Malmö,
I studied in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
In 1950, I opened my own workshop in the town where I was born.
At the H55 exhibition in 1955, a white-glazed spice jar was highly praised.
Eventually, Höganass, Rörstrand, Bodanova—
We also handle a large number of jobs for factories.
He became a professor at Constfack in 1985.
Without concealing the rough texture of the sandy soil,
Keep the form as simple as possible.
He was known as a leading figure in "new, simple pottery."
