「sottoforma」へ、名前を変えました

Today, I'd like to share something a little personal, but very important.

The reason I originally started this online store was,
When I first started living in Copenhagen,
I have a strong affinity for Nordic culture,
I want everyone to know about that.
That's how it all started.

When I first started,
I never intended to continue this for this long.
"I've collected too many of my favorite lights,
"Let's let go of some of it,"
It was a place that started with a really small trigger.
I chose the name without giving it much thought back then.
It was just a pseudonym.

Before I knew it, five years had passed.
People who empathize with the choices I have made
It was because of all of you,
I've been able to continue this far.
Thank you so much.

Originally, I was sharing the charm of Scandinavia through writing,
"Even if it's not through words,
"I think we can communicate more."
I started to think that way.
Through objects rather than words
I shifted my focus to sharing Nordic culture.

What is truly valued in Nordic culture is
Daily life,
In other words, it's deeply linked to interior design and lighting.
That's when I realized.
Create a comfortable environment,
Live surrounded by the things you love.
In this way, they are diligently working on building their own "nest".
I realized it's about cultivating small moments of happiness in everyday life.

Instead of going out to find happiness,
Finding it within yourself.
In other words, find what you like,
Making choices.
Since realizing its importance,
My own lifestyle and state of mind
Things changed dramatically.

At first, I was only drawn to Scandinavian products,
As time passes, the place you are in changes,
Through various encounters,
The range of things that attract me is gradually expanding.
But it certainly did spread.
Before I knew it, it was "Scandinavian keramik"
The name alone is not enough.
The world I want to express right now
I had a feeling that it was getting out of control.

Therefore, as we move forward,
The name of the store "sottoforma" to
We have decided to make a change.

This name has two meanings.

One example is the Japanese word "sotto" (gently/gently).
What I value most when choosing spaces and things is
To express that quiet atmosphere and sense of space,
These words couldn't be more fitting.

Another one is,
The Italian phrase "sotto forma" means "in the form of".

The objects I encounter are
Simply ceramics or glass,
Not just material things like metals,
Therein lies the writer's philosophy and aesthetic sense,
There is a presence there.
They take the form of "things,"
I believe it simply exists there, quietly.

Not only is it aesthetically pleasing,
To uncover the story behind it.
And then it will be in your hands,
When it becomes integrated into daily life,
The first time something is completed as a single "object."

I put those feelings into this name.

The range of products we handle extends beyond the confines of Scandinavia,
The Nordic spirit that I deeply resonated with that day,
The fundamental atmosphere that I cherish remains unchanged.
From now on, it will be called sottoforma.
I want to raise it in my own way and with care,
I would be grateful if you would continue to watch over me as always.
