It's a small plate that fits in the palm of your hand.
In the center of the thick, transparent glass,
A bull is floating up.
I can picture him walking with strength and determination.
The outline created by pressing into the mold is
It's smudged and blurred in places.
Some air bubbles remain trapped inside.
Don't make it look too perfect.
That was this person's way of doing things.
Gently place it on the shelf,
It can also be used to place rings and small accessories.
Erik Höglund (1932–1998)
He is an artist who changed the course of glassmaking in Sweden.
At the age of 16, he entered the Stockholm School of Arts and Crafts to study sculpture.
In 1953, at the age of 21, I was welcomed into Boda.
Speaking of Swedish glass at that time,
Clear and polished,
An era in which thinness and precision were considered desirable.
Höglund turns his back on it.
Still containing air bubbles.
While retaining its thickness.
The color remains murky.
Things that appear unfinished,
I deliberately left it as is.
At the H55 exhibition in 1955, the king purchased his vase.
In 1957, she became the youngest recipient of the Lunning Prize.
For 20 years until he left Boda in 1973,
He remained the face of this workshop.
